Phils/Yanks Game 6 - Unite Philly (PBILA Homeward Bound)

After 3 straight Yankee wins that made it tough to even want to press the keys of this laptop or even speak about in public; Our boys in Red decided to make things interesting. Although the mighty Phils brought the heat and seemed to be smashing the ball once again; watching the end of Game 5 was without a doubt not good for my health. The Yankees are fighters. The Phils have to find the magic they had in Game 1, they proved they can come into Yankee Stadium and bring it to a dead silence. Game 2 could have fallen right into our favor too. Despite taking the loss, Martinez still brought the heat and I have a feeling he’ll be the right man for tonight’s mission, which is simply: DON’T LOSE! There’s no doubt that we need one more element, especially since they’ll be pitching around Utley hoping he won’t break Jackson’s record. We need Mr. Howard to bring Sexy Back to his swing. Our boy needs to find his groove again. If the Big Bear Howard gets the food he’s looking for, if he finally relaxes and finds that hit to satisfy his hunger, then The Figthing Phils will find themselves pouring the champagne once again. It’s not going to be an easy task, but if our boys are up for the fight, then I believe they can do it. We’re behind you boys and we love you, so what do you say about going out there and disappointing a few million New Yorkers tonight!?

I kept thinking about last year, being way out here in LA during the playoffs/world series excitement. I kept think of Ryan’s slump. I kept wondering what I could do to show my support, to send my luck, my encouragement, my love for a team that has brought our city of Philadelphia together in so many ways. Well the only thing I could think of was to put my money were my mouth is and bring my ass home to good old Glenolden! So here I am, typing on just a few hours sleep after a long flight from LaLa Land, ready, excited and almost tearful to be able to be able to watch the game with the biggest Phillies Fan that I know. My Dad. Dad and I will be heading to the one and only Red Lantern tonight, so if you’re in Delco, come join us! So Phils, I’m not asking ya to win just because I came 3,000 miles to be in my hometown to watch Game 6 & 7. I’m not asking ya to win because I’d be in town for the parade I missed last year due to being stuck in LA with a broken heart. I’m asking ya to win, so I can feel that electricity again, that spark I felt all the way out in Los Angeles. That feeling of watching the people I love filled with pure joy. I’m asking you to win for my people, the people of Philadelphia. Unite this city boys, let me feel the electricity right here in the town that made me the PhillyBoyinLA.

Game 1: Phils BeautifuLEE Beat the Yanks

What could be better then being at the best Philly bar in LA, witnessing the Phils put an end to the crummy LA Dodgers , screaming with a shit-ton of Phillies fans, parading down Wilshire blvd as if it was Broad street?!?! Well I guess it would have to be chillin’ at my home with my family (4 week older daughter sportin’ her Phillies bib of course) and watching Our Boys in Red walk all over the even crummier New York Yankees! I think there was no better way of responding to the New York Post’ Victorino in a Dress cover story, then by doing what the Phils do best: Playing Great Baseball. The kind of great baseball that shuts down the millionaire sluggers and silences the Bronx Zoo.

One thing we’ve learned for sure so far during this post season, is that grabbing Mr. Cliff Lee was one of the smartest moves the Phillies Club did this season. He not only pitched a great first game, he made it look easy. Let’s not forget to mention the pure joy that reigned over every Philly Fan watching Mr. Utley smash not one, but two beautiful homers which could have stood alone and still won the game for the Phils. The Red Crew had a mission tonight, they needed to get the best of CC Sabathia and start tearing through the Yankee bullpen. Mission Accomplished. (And we ain’t talkin no George Bush ‘Mission Accomplished’). So bring on Game 2! My PhillyGirlinLA and I are lucky enough to have family in town to watch our Tiny-Philly Fan, so we will be travelin’ on down to The Shack in Santa Monica to watch Mr. Martinez take the mound. In the past Martinez has struggled in the Bronx and there’s no doubt the NY fans will be breaking his balls like they never broke those balls before; but this is not the past. Martinez locked in and took full charge of the Dodgers in Game 2(which I believe if they would’ve left him in for the 8th inning the Phils would have been celebrating an LA sweep). I guarantee he does it again, he’s taken heat in NY before, he can handle it... and he will handle those Damn Yankees. Ya gotta Believe.

So let’s go get ‘em Philly. The only thing I ask from my beloved Philadelphia Press is to not retaliate to the New York Post with some ridiculous front page Photoshop garbage...all that showed is that the New York Post is about one smut story away from being the National Inquirer. -PBILA

Phils vs The LaLa's: Deja Vu All Over Again

Well, well, well! Like the great Mr. Berra once said “It’s like Deja Vu all over again.” PhillyBoyinLA here reporting from the City of Angels and it looks like my Fighting Phillies have a 3-1 lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the battle for the NLCS. It’s been a while my friends and with Stardum Mag going through an overhaul , it just hasn’t been the same this playoff season not reporting the Phillies playoff action....but thanks to BlogSpot I’m sending this friendly notation out the readers of my Stardum Blog. A lot has changed in the past year, which includes me becoming a father to the Littlest Phillies Fan in La (but that article is for another day and deserves every ounce of my energy).

Now for the second year in a row I’m watching our boys in Red take on the Blue Crew with high hopes of watching the Phils roll back into World SeriesVille tonight as I head to The Shack in Santa Monica (nominated the best Philly Bar in LA by me). Since I haven’t been able to report the games, I’ll give a debriefing: I went to game 1 at Dodger’s Stadium wearing my Phillies ‘Respect the Champs’ shirt. I was booed over and over again. I heard banter like “Respect what? Go back to Philly!?!” Now I didn’t take any of this to heart, because the fact is Dodgers fans should hate me, that’s the way it should be and I loved every minute of it. So douse me with peanuts and cracker jacks Dodger fans, I encourage it! I love it! Of course Game 2 errors and a walked in run that lead to a Phils Loss disappointed the Phillies-Fan heart, but a follow up 11-0 win at Citizen’s Bank patched that broken heart instanly. And I’ll never forget screaming my brains out while working my night job as J-Rol smashed in the winning run at the bottom of the 9th to take Game 4. I didn’t care who was around. It was a moment. One of those moments where you feel completely connected to your roots no matter how far away you may be. That’s the beauty of sports...in some strange way it keeps you connected.

So to any Phillies fans in LA, head on down to The Shack in Santa Monica and lets feel that connection has we watch Mr. Howard and our Phils head back to the defend the crown that is ours. AND PS: TJ Simmers, I read your article yesterday. You are still such a douchebag, thank you for being constistant -PBILA
